Our guest editor on Food as Medicine
Introducing Robert Graham
Robert Graham & Jelle Steenbergen Xiao Er Kong
Graham is a Harvard trained physician with over fifteen years of clinical experience, and is also a trained chef. He is the co-founder of FRESH MED, an integrative health & wellness center in New York City. With FRESH MED Graham moves away from ‘traditional’ symptom-based treatment of illness towards a more holistic approach incorporating the best evidence based clinical nutrition, functional medicine, health coaching, and complementary therapies. We at Food Inspiration believe in Graham’s vision and are proud to introduce him as a guest editor for this edition of the magazine.
Food and health care are one and the same. This has been recognized as true since the days of Ancient Greece, and yet in the last century and a bit we seem to have lost much of this connection. Chef Robert Graham, MD MPH has made it his mission to reconnect the dots, and to reestablish the practice of using food as a form of medicine. Food related diseases like obesity and diabetes have food as the problem, but too often we skip over the fact that food is also the solution.
